Training Courses

We work alongside our partners to study emerging job trends and increase industry-driven training to ensure our local workforce is equipped with the skills needed for high-demand occupations. 

Construction Core

Dates: July 12 - Aug. 6

Time: Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM

Location: TBA

This training gives participants the basic skills needed to continue education in any construction or maintenance craft area of choice. Trainees receive the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Construction Core certification upon successful completion of the course. The course covers the following:

  • Basic Safety

  • Hand Tools

  • Power Tools

  • Construction Drawings

  • Construction Math

  • Basic Rigging

  • Materials Handling

 

*No previous experience required. Must be a McLennan County resident 18+ with a GED or high school diploma to enroll.

 

Specialty Track: Industrial Maintenance Technician​

 

Dates: Aug. 16 - Sept. 10

Times: Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM

Location: TBA

This course is a continuation of the Construction Core training that teaches trainees how to repair and maintain electrical instruments and equipment as well as install and dismantle them. Trainees receive the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Industrial Maintenance Electricals and Instrumentation Technician Level 1 certification upon successful completion of the course. The course covers the following:

  • Orientation to the Trade

  • Tools of the Trade

  • Fasteners and Anchors

  • Oxyfuel Cutting

  • Gaskets and Packing

  • Craft-Related Mathematics

  • Construction Drawings

  • Pumps and Drivers

  • Valves- Introduction to Test Instruments

  • Material Handling and Hand Rigging

  • Mobile and Support Equipment

  • Lubrication

 

*Completion of Construction Core training is a requirement to enroll in Industrial Maintenance.

Hospitality Fundamentals

This course provides participants with the fundamental skills and industry recognized certifications needed for a variety of hospitality jobs such as service, housekeeping, and front desk. Participants will also have the opportunity to train on-site with local hospitality partners.
