This 5-week training gives participants the basic skills needed to continue education in any construction or maintenance craft area of choice. Trainees receive the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Construction Core certification upon successful completion of the course. The course covers the following:

• Power Tools
• Construction Drawings
• Construction Math
• Basic Rigging
• Materials Handling
*No previous experience required. Must be a McLennan County resident 18+ with a GED or high school diploma to enroll.
Certified Medication Aide

This 140-hour class will provide the necessary information and skills to prepare the student to become a state-certified medication aide and work in health care facilities, where he/she will assist nurses in providing medications and patient care.
The class will cover basic medication administration concepts, health care team responsibilities in medication administration, legal and ethical aspects, drugs’ effects on systems of the body, professionalism, communication skills, anatomy and physiology related to medication administration, safety and infection control, first aid and emergency care, common medication administration problems, special care concerns, and other health care topics.
Medication aides perform under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse or a Registered Nurse. The Medication Aide Training course is required for anyone wishing to work as a medication aide in a long-term care facility. As soon as possible, following completion of training, the student is scheduled to take the state medication aide examination.
Students must already have a CNA certification and work in a long-term care facility.

This training in mechatronics is an emerging field that integrates electrical and mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, and computer technology. Trainees will earn seven certifications from the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) upon successful completion of the course. The course covers the following:
• NFPA 70E Arc Flash
• Basic Electrical Theory
• Alternating Current
• Wiring
• Electrical Print Reading
• Motor Theory
• Motor Controls and Troubleshooting
• Basic Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

This 100-hour class will provide the necessary information and skills to prepare the student to become a state certified nurse aide and work in health care facilities, where he/she will assist nurses in providing care.
The class will cover health care systems, the health care team, legal and ethical aspects, professionalism, communication skills, growth and development, anatomy and physiology, safety and infection control, first aid and emergency care, rehabilitation and restorative care, common health problems, special care concerns, and other health care topics.
Nurse aides perform basic nursing functions under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse or a Registered Nurse.
Nurse aides also handle procedures relating to patients’ personal hygiene, safety, nutrition, exercise, and elimination needs. Nurse aides work in many types of health care facilities, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, community health clinics, hospices, and physicians’ offices.
The Texas Nurse Aide Registry and Training course is required by the federal government for anyone wishing to work as a nurse aide in a long-term care facility. As soon as possible, following completion of training, the student is scheduled to take both the skills and written components of the state examination. State Examination fee is covered with tuition.
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical Administrative Assistants (also called medical office assistants or medical secretaries) are critical in keeping healthcare offices running smoothly, and also play an important role in the patient experience.
Their duties include:
• Maintaining the reception area
• Welcoming patients and guests
• Scheduling Appointments
• Gathering demographic information
• Verifying insurance eligibility
• Obtaining prior authorizations
• Collecting Copayments
• Communicating via the phone and the patient portal
This course will prepare you for positions working alongside medical providers performing these administrative duties. Upon completion, you will be prepared for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Exam fee is included in tuition. Scholarships available to those who qualify.
Certified Patient Care Technician - Bridge Course

Patient Care Technicians provide direct patient care and assist the doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with performing day-to-day care. Patient Care Technicians care for patients by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), obtaining patient vital signs, communicating with the healthcare team and patients, complying with confidentiality requirements, performing EKG/ECG's and phlebotomy procedures. Patient Care Technicians play a vital role as a member of the healthcare team and are often the ones with the most direct contact with patients.
This Bridge course is for Certified Nurse Aides who would like to obtain their Certification in Patient Care Technician.
Prepare for the National Certified Patient Care Technician Test through classroom and clinical experience at MCC.
