The OSHA 10-hour Outreach Training for General Industry course provides students with a basic safety and health knowledge to include OSHA policies, procedures, and standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are most hazardous. Upon completion of this course, a wallet card will be issued certifying that the student has completed 10 hours of OSHA training for General Industry.

This 100-hour class will provide the necessary information and skills to prepare the student to become a state certified nurse aide and work in health care facilities, where he/she will assist nurses in providing care. The class will cover health care systems, the health care team, legal and ethical aspects, professionalism, communication skills, growth and development, anatomy and physiology, safety and infection control, first aid and emergency care, rehabilitation and restorative care, common health problems, special care concerns, and other health care topics. Nurse aides perform basic nursing functions under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse or a Registered Nurse. Nurse aides also handle procedures relating to patients’ personal hygiene, safety, nutrition, exercise, and elimination needs. Nurse aides work in many types of health care facilities, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, community health clinics, hospices, and physicians’ offices. The Texas Nurse Aide Registry and Training course is required by the federal government for anyone wishing to work as a nurse aide in a long-term care facility. As soon as possible, following completion of training, the student is scheduled to take both the skills and written components of the state examination. State Examination fee is covered with tuition. All application materials must be submitted at least one week prior to the course start date.

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)

Medical Administrative Assistants (also called medical office assistants or medical secretaries) are critical in keeping healthcare offices running smoothly, and also play an important role in the patient experience. Their duties include:
Maintaining the reception area
Welcoming patients and guests
Scheduling Appointments
Gathering demographic information
Verifying insurance eligibility
Obtaining prior authorizations
Collecting Copayments
Communicating via the phone and the patient portal
This course will prepare you for positions working alongside medical providers performing these administrative duties. Upon completion, you will be prepared for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Exam fee is included in tuition. Scholarships available to those who qualify. All application materials must be submitted at least one week prior to the course start date.

This 140-hour class will provide the necessary information and skills to prepare the student to become a state-certified medication aide and work in health care facilities, where he/she will assist nurses in providing medications and patient care. The class will cover basic medication administration concepts, health care team responsibilities in medication administration, legal and ethical aspects, drugs’ effects on systems of the body, professionalism, communication skills, anatomy and physiology related to medication administration, safety and infection control, first aid and emergency care, common medication administration problems, special care concerns, and other health care topics. Medication aides perform under the supervision of a Licensed Vocational Nurse or a Registered Nurse. The Medication Aide Training course is required for anyone wishing to work as a medication aide in a long-term care facility. As soon as possible, following completion of training, the student is scheduled to take the state medication aide examination. Students must already have a CNA certification and work in a long-term care facility. All application materials must be submitted at least one week prior to the course start date.
